How TexCentric™ Began

Between 2017 and 2018, professional stuntman Dr Danger, aka Gregory Carpenter, envisioned a TV show celebrating Texas musicians. His goal? To share the stories of those who have played alongside legends like Willie Nelson, Doug Sahm, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Guy Clark, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, and countless other Texas icons. The idea began to take shape during his time at Sam’s Town Point, where he listened to captivating tales from songwriters like Will Callery (“Hands On The Wheel”) and the incomparable Kinky Friedman.

A Perfect Collaboration

By 2022, Dr Danger had formed a close friendship with singer/songwriter Brent Allen while working as freelance stagehands. With over 30 years of experience, Brent was the perfect host. A Grammy® member and Texas music icon, he has performed across Texas, the UK, and Scotland and collaborated with musicians from Asleep at The Wheel, George Strait’s Ace In The Hole band and Dale Watson. In recognition of his legacy, Texas proclaimed November 7th, 2024, as Brent Allen Day.
